Hair Attachments and Wigs.

Choosing a wig can be exciting and fun or stressful and scary.

These can be synthetic , natural or even today’s special blended fibres. Regardless of what the wig is made of, the main concern is how it fits. The caps can be constructed differently and they come in different sizes. To help ensure a perfect fit we will measure your head before ordering anything.

We have an assortment of catalogues to pick through as well as several swatches to select the perfect shade to match your colours.

Generally a piece will take 4-6 business days to arrive. TFL requires a nonrefundable down payment of $50 for shipping and a 50% deposit towards the purchase of your piece.

It is recommended to select 2 or 3 choices for comparison. When they arrive we will schedule you a “fitting” appointment. At this time you may wish to bring a friend for your critic. It is recommended to wear your piece for a few days before you may decide that it needs adjusting. It may need thinning. You can schedule an appointment for a “wig styling”, come in with the piece on and we will trim and adjust on the spot to suit your new look.

The care of a hair enhancement should be simple and easy.

Care for your Wig

Synthetic Care & Tips

We recommend washing your wig every 6-8 wears.

Cleanse & Condition

  • Before  washing your wig, gently remove any tangles with a wide tooth comb
  • Hold  wig or hairpiece under cool running water.  Gently lather the hair with a gentle shampoo while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling
  • Rinse thoroughly in cool water until the water runs clear
  • Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry
  • Gently detangle hair using a wide tooth comb
  • Spray with a leave in conditioning spray keeping away from base of wig or hairpiece

Dry & Style

  • Allow wig or hairpiece to air dry naturally by placing on a plastic or wire wig stand. DO NOT blow dry
  • Styling is very easy with your Jon Renau wig or hairpiece. We recommend simply using your fingertips or wig brush/comb for your desired style
  • If fullness is desired, gently backcomb hair using your wig or hairpiece brush/comb, then smooth the surface hair over it.
  • DO NOT use heat to style synthetic fiber (curling irons, flat irons or blow dryers)

Tips

  • Be cautious when standing near a heat source (i.e. open oven, heater, etc.) Excessive heat can damage the fiber
  • We recommend using a wide tooth comb to detangle your synthetic wig. This is especially important with the mid-length to long length wigs

Human Hair Care & Tips

We recommend washing your wig every 6-8 wears.

JON RENAU DOES NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU COLOUR OR PERM WIGS OR HAIRPIECES.

Cleanse & Condition

  • Before washing your human hair wig, gently remove any tangles with a wide tooth comb
  • Hold wig or hairpiece under cool running water
  • Gently lather the hair with a gentle shampoo while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling
  • Rinse thoroughly in cool water until the water runs clear
  • Apply a leave in conditioning spray, avoiding the base cap of the wig (applying conditioner to the base of the cap may weaken the knots)
  • With your fingers, work conditioner through the ends of the hair for about 3-5 minutes
  • Rinse thoroughly in cold water until the water runs clear

Dry & Style

  • Wrap wig in a towel and gently pat to remove excess water
  • DO NOT use a brush to detangle your human hair wig while it is wet, gently use a wide tooth comb

HD | Heat Defiant Care & Tips

We recommend washing your wig every 6-8 wears.

Cleanse & Condition

  • Before washing your HD wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles with a wide tooth comb ONLY
  • Hold wig or hairpiece under cool running water.
  • Gently lather the hair with a gentle shampoo while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling
  • Rinse thoroughly in cool water until the water runs clear
  • Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry
  • Gently detangle hair using a wide tooth comb
  • Spray with a leave in conditioning spray, keeping away from base of wig or hairpiece

Curl

  • Heat your curling iron to 270°-280° F
  • Using a wide tooth comb, gently comb hair free of tangles
  • Starting at the nape, take ½ inch – 1.5 inch sections of hair (Smaller sections = tighter curls, larger sections = looser curls)
  • Spray a heat protector spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)
  • Gather hair into curling iron, smooth through to the ends. Roll iron up towards base of wig or hairpiece, staying 1-2 inches away
  • Hold for 10-15 seconds, then turn the tip of iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of hand
  • Holding curl in one hand, gather up towards base and secure curl with a small metal clip (like a pin curl)
  • Allow curl to cool completely (about 5 minutes); remove clip and let curl hang naturally
  • Hair can be combed with a wide tooth comb (or fingers for best results) to blend curls

Dry & Style

  • Air drying your wig will give the best results. You can gently blow dry (low-medium heat) using ONLY a wide tooth comb
  • Apply a leave in conditioning spay focusing on the bottom half of wig or hairpiece. Gently comb through again with a wide tooth comb
  • We recommend that ONLY a wide tooth comb is used on your HD wig or hairpiece. Other tools will cause frizzing/tangling
  • HD Fibre can withstand heat tools up to 350° F, however, Jon Renau recommends working at 270°-280° F
  • It is recommended to use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat

Flat Iron

  • Heat your flat iron to 270°-280° F
  • Starting at the nape, take ½ inch-1.5 inch sections
  • Spray a heat protector spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)
  • Staying at least 1-2 inches away from base, slowly smooth flat iron down through ends
  • Keep hair smooth by following behind the flat iron with a wide tooth comb
  • Allow hair to hang naturally and cool completely
